Franchise mode's prominence in each iteration of Madden has come and gone, but with Madden 23, it's back and better than ever. Madden 23 coins is an attempt to bring some intelligence to its franchise mode, building on the foundation laid by Madden 22's addition of elements like staff, game-planning, and AI changes. Features like player incentives, tagging, scouting, and other AI tweaks are all part of this. How much you use these options depends on your level of interest, but Madden is certainly going for an NBA 2K-style MyGM vibe in addition to the product on the field.

Madden 23 Franchise Mode features

1. Player Motivations

Undoubtedly the most significant change, player motives will grow as a result of contract talks. Player motivations are no longer determined solely by "the team that offers the most gets the player" like they were in Madden 22; instead, they will take into account a player's desire to win a championship, the player's legacy, the team's scheme, the player's playing potential, the player's home state's tax rate, and even the weather. Although financial incentives will always be a factor, there are many other considerations that could lead to a player joining a particular squad. When all is said and done, collective motivation must equal individual drive.

2. Player Tages

The league's standings will determine which players receive which player tags. The price tag is a technique to evaluate players beyond their statistics, and it can affect how much of a role a player is offered in free agency or trade talks. Players can be categorized as franchise quarterback, bridge quarterback, quarterback of the future, Day 1 starter, future starter, bridge player, mentor, or trade target. Winner of an award completes the set. It's an efficient method of managing your roster and assigning importance to individual players. Although all of these are fairly self-explanatory, capitalizing on them when a player is in transition might help your franchise succeed.

3. Free Agency Hub

4. Scouting

Previously, there were just 50 free agency scouts in Madden, but now there are 100. Previously, players could only scout one position at a time, but in Madden 23, they can scout numerous positions simultaneously. Players who take over struggling teams with a long-term goal of creating a dynasty may find this particularly helpful. These scouts have connections throughout the draft class and will place potential draftees into groups based on their pick status.

Many other types of prospects exist, including "generational" players like Andrew Luck, "99 Club" players with a single "generational" skill, "high variance" "boom or bust" types, and "specialized" prospects (players who fill a specific need).
