Exotic locales, deadly foes, and potent artifacts abound in Elden Ring. As you travel through the Lands Between, you'll come across some incredible sights, some of which can only be found by following the Guidance of Grace and venturing off the beaten path.

Throughout the game, you'll come across numerous secret areas. While there are many hidden spots, a few stand out from the crowd. Read on to find out which spots in Elden Ring you might have missed the first time around.

10. Nokron, Eternal City

Despite the fact that the entrance leaves quite an impression, this area is easy to overlook unless you're trying to finish Ranni's lengthy questline (literally). Once Starscourge Radahn has been defeated, the Lands Between will be hit by a massive meteor. On the outskirts of Limgrave, in southern Mistwood, a meteor falls to the ground. After visiting a nearby place of grace, you'll notice the difference right away. The huge crater is surrounded by chunks of the earth that float in the sky. Nokron, the Eternal City, can be seen from the Siofra River as a result of following that path.

9. Subterranean Shunning-Grounds

Capital City, Leyndell, can be a bit of a jumble. You're constantly on the hunt for shortcuts and passageways as you make your way to the Erdtree. While exploring, you'll come across a few sewers, but the entrance to the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, which extend deep underground, is easy to overlook. The Dungeater NPC and the Mohg, the Omen boss fight can be found in this area. It's nearly impossible to find your way around here without a guide, as there are countless broken pipes, dead ends, and other perilous situations. Basilisks, giant rats, giant crayfish, killer plants and the most dangerous Omens in the game are all to be found here. You should prepare yourself for the worst.

8. Consecrated Snowfield

You'll need to complete Latenna's Questline and collect the Haligtree Secret Medallion pieces to get to this location. Gideon and Latenna give you plenty of hints about how important it is to collect both medallion pieces, but it's easy to blow through the game without collecting them all. It's a large area, albeit sparse in comparison to some of the game's more densely populated locales, but it offers a beautiful snowy landscape and a number of challenging side quests.

7. Miquella's Haligtree/Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree

The only way to get to Miquella's Haligtree, a hidden location within a hidden location, is to first explore Consecrated Snowfield. Access to Miquella's Haligtree can be gained in Ordina, Liturgial Town north of Consecrated Snowfield by solving the deadly puzzle. In many ways, Haligtree resembles Rivendell from The Lord of the Rings, with its intricate structures carved out of the mountainside. To get to Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree from Miquella's Haligtree, one must first traverse the Brace. In each of these areas, you'll find a distinct tone and a wide range of gameplay challenges.

6. Mohgwyn Palace

Mohgwyn Palace can be seen from Siofra River, a temple located high in the underground area to the east, but it is difficult to get to the palace itself. If you follow White-Faced Varre's convoluted questline, you can get here fairly early in the game. To avoid this, you'll have to wait until you've gained access to Consecrated Snowfield later in the game. The Snowfield's westernmost teleporter is hidden behind some rocks, and you'll need to be invaded several times to find it. To avoid missing out on the cool and creepy blood-soaked location that is home to Mohg, Lord of Blood, you may encounter the teleporter before it is activated.

5. Deeproot Depths

The entrance to Deeproot Depths, yet another subterranean location, is extremely easy to miss. You can end up in the Siofra Aqueducts while exploring Nokron, Eternal City. You'll face two Valiant Gargoyles at the end of the aqueducts. In the boss arena, you'll find a single coffin with its lid off beneath the waterfall, so don't stop exploring after defeating the bosses. Climbing in, you'll be treated to the strangest of cuts, where you're dumped in Deeproot Depths after the coffin travels up the waterfall. In addition to giant ants, basilisks, and knights, you'll also come across a walking mausoleum and an optional boss in Lichdragon Fortissax, though defeating him requires completing Fia's storyline.

4. Hidden Path To The Haligtree – Secret Catacombs

Although the Secret Catacombs beneath the Haligtree can be found on the Hidden Path to the Consecrated Snowfield, many players fail to notice them on their way through the path. You'll come across a gap in the railing of a platform while running through the short path. If you take a step over the edge, you'll actually land on a walkway that's completely invisible. The Hidden Path to the Haligtree area is surrounded by a labyrinth of invisible walkways. Even after discovering these invisible pathways, you might still need a guide in order to navigate the treacherous drops, but the rewards are worth it. One of only nine Deathroot Elden Ring items is hidden here, along with several upgrade materials and a potent Spelldrake Talisman +2.

3. Abandoned Cave In Dragonbarrow

Finding the Abandoned Cave is a real challenge. The cave's entrance is located high above a trench that runs north from the Aeonia Swamp. The easiest way to miss something great is to have no idea what exactly you're looking for. You'll find a precarious 'bridge' made of tree roots high above the trench. The Abandoned Cave's entrance can be found by following these tree roots. The Gold Scarab, a Talisman that grants a 20% increase in  Elden Ring Rune acquisition, can be found inside the Scarlet Rot Chest.

2. Sellia Hideaway

For the most part, this is just a small dungeon in Caelid that needs to be visited in order to complete Sorceress Sellen's questline. It's just north of the Church of the Plague, which you'll visit in Millicent's Questline, where you'll find the entrance. The entrance has no distinguishing characteristics, so it's easy to miss it without consulting a guide. As you make your way deeper into the cave, you'll encounter treacherous walkways surrounded by massive crystal growths. A Crystallian Trio will eventually be found. This boss isn't too difficult to defeat if you have the right weapon, but without a weapon that deals strike damage, it's going to be a struggle.

1. Jarburg

The only way to get to Jarburg, Elden Ring's most secluded settlement, is to jump over Liurnia of the Lakes' eastern edge and descend a series of gravestones. If you've been following Diallos's questline, you'll find Jarburg to be an unusually tranquil place. The only residents are the friendly Living Jars. They live in small huts and houses, tending to their gardens and generally having a great time. There is a little girl named Jar Bairn who dreams of one day becoming a great Jar Warrior like Iron Fist Alexander. Jarburg is a peaceful haven where you can get away from it all and gather any flower materials you need, as many of them grow and reappear in the small gardens.
