The Fifa 22 cycle is winding down, and the new FIFA 23 trailer has been unveiled. The term "FIFA" will be removed from the title of the game after this one. After 30 years of working together, FIFA and EA Sports have chosen to separate ways. Beginning in 2019, it will be known as EA Sports FC. Kylian Mbappé of Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea's Sam Kerr grace the covers of the Ultimate Edition and Standard Edition, respectively, of FIFA 23.
Lionel Messi has the highest overall rating in FIFA 22 with a 93. Robert Lewandowski, who recently signed with Barcelona, has the second-highest total rating (92). Kylian Mbappe, who graces the cover of the upcoming game, will likely be included as one of the game's best players. Below is our list of what we think will be the top 10 cards in FIFA 23.
10. Thibaut Courtois – 90
The Belgian goalkeeper was rated 89 in FIFA 22. Last year, Courtois and Real Madrid won both the La Liga and the Champions League, and he had a fantastic season. The Belgian also shone in the UEFA Champions League final versus Liverpool, where his team won the tournament. The 30-year-old is well overdue for an increase from his current 89 rating.
9. In honor of Joshua Kimmich, 90
The 27-year-old played a key role in Bayern's Bundesliga championship defense last season. Kimmich only played in 28 league games, but he contributed to three goals and twelve assists. Germany's national team player, who was rated 89 in FIFA 22, is expected to receive a +1 rating increase in FIFA 23.
8. 90+5 Harry Kane/Son Heung-min
The Spurs duo were yet again at par with the best players in the Premier League last term. Spurs were able to beat Arsenal thanks to the efforts of the two players. Antonio Conte’s appointment was vital to the duo returning to top form. Last season, Son won the league's golden boot award thanks to his 23 goals.
7. A 90-minute performance by Cristiano Ronaldo
Last summer, the Portuguese superstar made a spectacular comeback to Manchester United. After only 10 months in Manchester, Ronaldo is eager to leave in quest of Champions League football. Even though Ronaldo scored 18 goals in the Premier League for the Red Devils last year, they finished in sixth place. In the past, players over the age of 30 have seen their ratings steadily drop, and Ronaldo could be the next victim of this trend.
6. Salah, Mohamed, 6th place, 90
Liverpool swept the domestic cup competitions last year, taking home both the FA Cup and the League Cup, but falling short in both the Premier League and the Champions League final. The Reds' recent success may be directly attributed to Salah. The Egyptian superstar was awarded both the Premier League golden boot and the European Golden Ball. Of course Salah should be rated higher than 89 in FIFA 22.
5. The fifth-ranked player is Kevin De Bruyne (91).
After a stellar season in which he scored 15 goals and added eight assists, the Belgian was named the Premier League's best player. The Premier League championship went to Manchester City for the second time. The Belgian star is likely to retain his FIFA 22 rating of 91.
4. Karim Benzema, fourth with 91
The French forward scored the winning goals as his team won both the league and the Champions League last season. In addition, he played a crucial role in France winning the UEFA Nations League. Benzema played in 46 games last year and scored 44 goals while also contributing 15 assists. When it comes to the 2022 Ballon d'Or, Benzema is also a strong contender. The French striker may see a rating increase of +2 in FIFA 22.
3. Lionel Messi, third with 91
Messi made a free transfer from FC Barcelona to PSG before the 2017–18 season. There were high hopes that the Argentine could bring the Champions League to Paris, but the plan ultimately backfired. Messi had a tough time adjusting to life in Paris last year, scoring just six goals in the Ligue 1. The former Barcelona striker may fall from his position as the most popular athlete in this year's ratings.
2. Robert Lewandowski, second with 92 points
FIFA 22 gave the new Barcelona striker a rating of 92. The Polish team's prolific goal scorer had another stellar year. In 46 games played, Lewandowski scored 50 goals and added 7 assists. His 2021 Ballon d'Or ballot placed him second, behind only Lionel Messi. It appears that Lewandowski will continue his goal-scoring ways in Barcelona and keep his star status intact.
1. Kylian Mbappé (92).
For the third year in a row, Kylian Mbappe has graced the cover of the game. This past week, the 23-year-old turned down a free transfer to Real Madrid and instead extended his contract with PSG. A total of 39 goals and 26 assists were tallied by the French forward. Mbappe is expected to have the highest overall rating in FIFA 23, according to leaks and early access.
