Melina, the Tarnished player-characters' Maiden, is widely believed to be the Gloam-Eyed Queen in Elden Ring, despite the fact that this information has not been officially confirmed. In her capacity as a Maiden, Melina is a helpful character; however, it appears that there is more to this character than some players will ever get the opportunity to discover. Even though the Gloam-Eyed Queen only makes a brief appearance during the course of the events that take place in the Elden Rings story, it's possible that this is the last time players will ever see this character. The questions that have been raised by the community regarding this character could be resolved once and for all if the Gloam-Eyed Queen were given more opportunities to appear in the game. However, as things stand right now, this character continues to maintain a high level of secrecy, and it's possible that they won't even show up in the base game at all. There is a great deal of conjecture circulating in the community regarding the future appearance of this character in Elden Ring. It may be necessary to release a specialized expansion in order to provide this character with the visibility they so richly merit at this point.

If the community's theory about the identity of the character is correct, this may not be possible given the path that each of Elden Ring's multiple possible endings take, including the sequence of events that lead up to them.

  • One of Elden Ring's most closely guarded secrets is the true identity of the Queen with the Gloaming Eyes

  • To this point, finishing the story with the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending is the only way for the character that is presumed to be the Gloam-Eyed Queen to make it back to the Lands Between

  • When the player character throws the fate of the Lands Between into the chaos of the Frenzied Flame, Melina appears to reprise the role of the Gloam-Eyed Queen out of fury

  • However, the game ends before this scenario plays out any further, including confirming whether Melina is truly the Gloam-Eyed Queen or not

  • Aside from the possibility of a firsthand appearance, the former legacy of the Gloam-Eyed Queen still lives on in the background details of Elden Ring, such as the descriptions of certain items

  • These artifacts hold the key to unlocking the history of the Gloam-Eyed Queen; however, the character's true identity and their possible role in the future of the Lands Between continue to be shrouded in shadows

  • There are two requirements that must be met before Melina can return to the Lands Between in her role as the Gloam-Eyed Queen

  • Melina's demise at a predetermined stage in the process occurs in the majority of the resolutions to the Elden Ring story

These resolutions can be found at the end of the story. When the player reaches this point without having the Frenzied Flame to act as the catalyst in Melina's place, Melina will offer herself up as a sacrifice in order to rekindle the flame of the Giants. This is the case because Melina is willing to give her life for the Giants' cause. If Melina is, in fact, the Gloam-Eyed Queen, then the Lord of Frenzied Flame, or at least parts of it, would need to be recognized as canon as well. There is a way for players to save Melina without claiming the throne of the Elden Lord in the name of the Frenzied Flame; however, while this path does not directly result in Melina becoming what is commonly referred to as the Gloam-Eyed Queen, it is still possible for Melina to be saved through this method. In any case, there is no definitive evidence to suggest which of the numerous possible conclusions for Elden Ring is actually canon at the moment, nor is there evidence to suggest that Melina is in fact the Gloam-Eyed Queen.

The conclusion of the Elden Rings has significant bearing on the timing of the game's upcoming expansions. The conclusion involving the Lord of Frenzied Flame is generally regarded as being unsatisfactory because it involves destroying all of the Lands Between in an effort to extinguish the Greater Will. If the conclusion of Lord of Frenzied Flame is considered to be the official canon for the story of Elden Ring, then any expansions would have to take place either before or during the events that lead up to the conclusion of Elden Ring. This would mean that any new content would have to be backdated. In the end, due to the fact that Elden Ring features a variety of conclusions, it would be challenging to implement any expansions that took place after a specific conclusion because of the number of potential outcomes. There is a great deal that future expansions could investigate within this constrained amount of time, such as bringing back the content that was cut from Elden Ring or investigating the Rune Bearers who have not yet made an appearance. On the other hand, as a direct consequence of this, it is possible that fans will never get to see any further development of the Gloam-Eyed Queen.
